The underdog movie of the year. Untuk awalnya, jangan berharap film ini penuh adegan aksi kebut-kebutan ala Fast and Furious hanya karena Ryan Gosling diplot sebagai stunt driver. Jangan pula menyangka Gosling telah menjadi bintang laga komersil. Drive is simply a love story, a badass love story in cold blood. And packed in a very stylish 80′s ambience and tunes.
Stunt driver by day, wheelman by night, begitulah keseharian pria misterius yang diperankan Ryan Gosling ini. Dingin dan tidak pernah bicara banyak, hingga ia berkenalan dengan Irene (Carey Mulligan) seorang ibu muda yang hidup di seberang apartemennya. Walau tahu Irene memiliki suami yang sedang mendekam di penjara, namun jelas sekali ada ketertarikan di antara keduanya. Nah, disinilah Nicholas Winding Ren sang sutradara terampil menyuguhan adegan-adegan ‘manis’ antara Gosling dan Mulligan berhiaskan lantunan elektro khas 80′an, sebagaimana sudah sangat terasa sejak credit title pembuka.
As for the cold blood thingy, it’s entirely true as well. Bermula saat sang tokoh anti-hero kita mencoba membantu suami Irene yang baru saja keluar dari penjara dan diperas oleh mafia. Mereka berdua dijebak sehingga kini ia mesti menelusuri dan menuntut balas pada sang gembong mafia demi melindungi Irene dan Benicio, putra Irene. And when you say Mob, it means extreme violence. The elevator scene below, is my favorite. :D
Uber-cool and stylish anti-hero character, a splash of discreet romance, merciless act of vengeance and killer soundtrack.
Drive has every reason to be a cult movie. Siapa yang bisa lupa sosok Ryan Gosling dengan jaket quilt satin mengilap dengan emblem kalajengking dan sarung-tangan balap? He defines the new bad-ass!
Drive is spellbinding and one of the best movie i’ve seen this year! 8.5/10

Excellent choice for a review, unfortunately I have yet to see this so called brilliant film! But give the material and cast (Gosling in particular) I can already see how great it will be.

The pace at the earlier part of movie is a bit slow but then you just can’t resist some of memorable scenes came afterward.
